Jim beam black extra aged bourbon was a real surprise for me.
Jim beam black bourbon review.
A have a glass or two while grilling and watching the fights kind of bourbon.
For this review it was the export market 6 year old which is labelled as triple aged so three times the minimum maturation period to be called straight bourbon.
Jim beam black is 86 proof and double aged meaning it spends twice as long as jim beam original 8 years in charred white oak barrels.
This gives it a more mellow and complex taste.
There have been a number of similar jim beam black versions from double aged declared 8 year age statement xa extra and the latest us release called extra aged.
It belongs in any environment where you care less about having great bourbon in your glass and more about not having shitty bourbon in your glass.
I recently did some work on the jim beam double oak and had heard that many people preferred the jim beam black.
Jim beam makes great bourbon and it s on display in their small batch series which includes knob creek basil hayden s baker s and booker s based on how jim beam black extra aged is positioned and marketed in beam s portfolio it fills the gap between the inexpensive and basic jim beam white and the company s more expensive and complex small batch bourbons.
Jim beam black label review.
That s why jim beam black is and always will be extra aged to taste and bottled only when it s just right.
The color is a dark golden amber.
I prefer the black label too.
As i mentioned before this is an easy drinking bourbon and would be appropriate as an inexpensive go to for cocktails or mixers.
